Meta Platforms has announced plans to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in computing infrastructure to support its artificial intelligence (AI) ambitions.

Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg revealed the plans on Monday through a post on the social media platform Threads. He stated that Meta aims to build one of the most “elite and talent-dense teams in the industry” and has the capital to back its vision.

“We’re also going to invest hundreds of billions of dollars into compute to build superintelligence,” Zuckerberg wrote.

Superintelligence refers to a theoretical AI system that surpasses human cognitive capabilities. Meta’s investment will focus on developing this next-generation technology.

To support the initiative, Zuckerberg unveiled plans for massive new data centers:

  • One facility, named Prometheus, is expected to go online in 2026.
  • Another center, called Hyperion, could eventually require up to 5 gigawatts of power—enough to supply electricity to over four million average U.S. households, according to experts.

Meta’s commitment signals its determination to lead in the race toward AI superintelligence, supported by robust infrastructure and long-term capital.
