Abu Dhabi Airports has announced a strategic joint venture with JINGDONG Property (JDP), the infrastructure arm of global e-commerce company JD.com. The collaboration aims to develop and operate advanced logistics facilities within the Abu Dhabi Airports Free Zone (ADAFZ).

The partnership will lead to the construction of two warehouses one bonded and one non-bonded. Both facilities will span a total gross floor area of over 70,000 square meters. They will be located at the ADAFZ Logistics Park.

This is JDP’s first development project in the UAE. The investment is expected to enhance cross-border e-commerce and boost specialised cargo logistics across the GCC and the broader MENA region.

Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, revealed that the joint venture supports Abu Dhabi’s vision of becoming a global trade and logistics hub.

She noted, “By combining JDP’s expertise in cutting-edge logistics infrastructure with our strategic location and capabilities, we are creating a dynamic ecosystem that will attract investment, create growth opportunities, and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s role in global supply chains.”

JD.com is listed on NASDAQ and ranked 47th on the Fortune Global 500. Its infrastructure arm, JD Property, was established in 2012 and has more than 50 projects in nine countries outside of China.

Cao Dong, Chief Executive Officer of JDP, reported, “This signing marks an important milestone for both sides, and we highly value the trust and support from our partner. We have great respect for the UAE market and are committed to supporting its logistics infrastructure and e-commerce development.”

  • The facilities will benefit from proximity to airport operations.
  • Multimodal transport access will improve regional logistics efficiency.

As a multi-sector free zone, ADAFZ offers a tailored commercial environment that attracts diversified private-sector investments.

The joint venture is expected to deliver mutual benefits. It also supports Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification goals and strengthens the emirate’s position in the global logistics sector.
