Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) announced that a senior delegation led by His Excellency Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa concluded an official visit to the Republic of Korea. The trip aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in next-generation infrastructure, smart city, sustainable mobility, and urban innovation.

During the visit, His Excellency Al Shorafa held high-level meetings with officials including His Excellency Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul, and His Excellency Lee Sang Kyeong, Vice Minister of Land and Infrastructure. The discussions were attended by His Excellency Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi, UAE Ambassador to Korea. They focused on transit-oriented development, digital twin technologies, and data-driven decision-making in civic operations.

Highlighting the importance of cross-border collaboration, His Excellency Al Shorafa said the visit reflects Abu Dhabi’s efforts to foster global partnerships that support liveable, sustainable, and connected cities. He emphasized that these dialogues offer opportunities to share insights and accelerate progress centred on the needs of residents.

The DMT Chairman delivered a keynote at the World Smart City Expo (WSCE) 2025 in Busan, held from July 15 to 17 under the theme “Next City For All.” He praised Busan’s achievements in modernisation and showcased how advanced solutions shape vibrant metropolitan areas. He also accepted the WSCE Contribution Award on behalf of the Department.

The delegation participated in the Urban Development & Smart Mobility Seminar with Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), LX Corporation, and KRIHS. They also joined the Abu Dhabi – Seoul Future Transport Strategy Seminar alongside KAIA and Hyundai Motor Group to explore future and autonomous mobility and bilateral cooperation opportunities.
