Amazon Payment Services, a digital payments provider in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has announced the addition of Tamara to its payment options. Tamara is the GCC’s Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) provider.

This partnership enables businesses in the UAE and Saudi Arabia to offer flexible, split-payment solutions to their customers. The move comes as consumer demand for affordable and transparent payment methods continues to rise across the region.

Tamara’s Sharia-compliant payment solutions are expected to benefit various sectors. These include airlines, e-commerce, healthcare, insurance, education, fashion, and lifestyle.

  • Customers can split payments into four equal installments.
  • Merchants may see improved basket sizes, higher conversion rates, and reduced cart abandonment.

Peter George, Managing Director of Amazon Payment Services MENA, said the partnership reflects their commitment to supporting businesses in the digital payments space. He added that BNPL solutions are becoming essential for merchants.

Sami Louali, EVP and Chief Revenue Officer at Tamara, stated that the partnership with Amazon Payment Services helps expand Tamara’s reach in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. He emphasized that the company aims to support business growth and provide consumers with a seamless, flexible payment experience.

The collaboration also supports Amazon Payment Services’ broader affordability initiative. The company already works with over 25 banks in the UAE, KSA, Egypt, and Jordan to offer credit card installment options of up to 36 months. Now, with Tamara’s integration, Amazon Payment Services can serve both debit and credit card users.

This strategic move enhances the payment options available to merchants through a single integration. Businesses also gain access to reporting dashboards and streamlined reconciliation tools, helping them stay competitive in the fast-evolving digital payments market.
