China Unicom Beijing and Huawei have officially announced the deployment of the world’s first large-scale integrated 5G-Advanced intelligent network. The milestone was revealed during the event “5G Capital on the Way – Lighting Up Beijing with 5G-Advanced.” This cutting-edge network brings revolutionary connectivity solutions, including a 5G-Advanced smart commercial complex at the Workers’ Stadium and a 10-gigabit air-ground integrated network at the Great Wall scenic area.

The ultra-large-scale 5G-Advanced network, developed in partnership with Huawei, provides extensive coverage across Beijing, reaching stadiums, schools, metro stations, residential neighborhoods, and key commercial areas. The network ensures complete 5G coverage and 85% 5G-Advanced coverage in Beijing’s 4th Ring Road and the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center. It enables next-generation services like immersive videos, UHD live streaming, and cloud gaming. In a transformative move, old phone booths across the city have been upgraded to 5G-Advanced hubs, offering one-click access to navigation, ride-hailing, and emergency services.

At the Workers’ Stadium, a collaboration between China Unicom Beijing, Sinobo, GTVerse, and Huawei has achieved a global first with a high- and low-band integrated 5G-Advanced network. The deployment recorded an unprecedented downlink peak rate of 11.2 Gbps and an uplink peak rate of 4 Gbps, allowing thousands of spectators to enjoy uninterrupted 1080p streaming and advanced connectivity solutions for IoT and extended reality applications.

In the Great Wall scenic area, China Unicom Beijing and the Yanqing District Government introduced a 10-gigabit 5G-Advanced network offering continuous ground and low-altitude coverage. This network is set to revolutionize tourism, logistics, emergency services, and scenic area management while supporting the development of the low-altitude economy.

China Unicom Beijing has also incorporated AI-driven automation to optimize its 5G-Advanced network. Using intelligent operations, the company has streamlined site provisioning, reducing setup times from days to minutes. AI-powered optimizations ensure secure, reliable, and high-quality services, paving the way for a more intelligent digital ecosystem.

Yang Lifan, Deputy General Manager of China Unicom Beijing, emphasized the importance of large bandwidth in enhancing user experiences, highlighting the role of Huawei’s advanced technologies in building a seamless 10-gigabit network for Beijing’s residents. Li Jie, President of Huawei’s 5G&LTE TDD Domain, expressed pride in the milestone, noting Huawei’s commitment to supporting inclusive, high-quality 5G networks and driving innovation in the AI-powered mobile era.

This achievement positions Beijing as a global leader in 5G-Advanced technology, setting a new standard for intelligent network development and innovation.
