Cloudflare has announced Cloudflare Basin, a data platform designed to help developers and enterprises collect, store, catalog, and analyze data at scale without dedicated servers or data transfer fees.

Announced in Dubai on October 2, 2026, Cloudflare Basin is built on Apache Iceberg and Cloudflare R2. It provides an open, serverless approach to data ingestion, storage, cataloging, and analytics across existing tools.

Traditionally, modern data analytics requires dedicated data engineering teams and infrastructure. Teams often need to provision servers, connect multiple systems, and manage data movement between clouds.

Cloudflare Basin is designed to simplify this process. Data is stored in Apache Iceberg, an open industry-standard format. Compatible tools can access the data directly, reducing the need for copying or converting data between systems.

The platform also runs on Cloudflare’s global network. As a result, developers can ingest, store, and query data without provisioning or managing dedicated infrastructure.

“Developers shouldn’t need to become data infrastructure operators just to answer questions from their own data,” said Dane Knecht, CTO at Cloudflare. “With Cloudflare Basin, we are bringing the same serverless model that developers expect from Cloudflare to analytics: no clusters to manage, no unnecessary data movement, and open standards that keep customers in control of their data.”

With Cloudflare Basin, customers can store data in Apache Iceberg and analyze it using compatible tools. This is intended to provide greater flexibility and reduce dependence on a single vendor.

In addition, the platform allows teams to ingest, store, and query data without setting up dedicated servers. Cloudflare says these operations can run on demand across its network.

Another feature is the absence of data transfer fees when querying data using tools across different clouds, platforms, or regions.

“We moved our entire company’s data pipeline to Basin Pipelines, Catalog, and SQL,” said Dax Raad, co-founder of Anomaly, the creators of open source AI coding agent OpenCode. “We replaced a complex AWS S3 and Athena setup with a cleaner, serverless architecture that reliably handles all of our event data.”

Julien Grobbelaar, Head of Platform at Bobsled, said Basin enables the company to build data products that can be accessed across regions and major data and AI platforms. He added that the platform provides production-grade reliability while reducing costs through zero egress fees.

Cloudflare Basin is generally available from October 2, 2026. Developers can access the platform and documentation through https://developers.cloudflare.com/basin.

Cloudflare Basin gives developers an open approach to collecting, storing, and analyzing data while reducing infrastructure management and data movement requirements.
