Cloudflare Wallets will give AI agents a verified identity and the ability to make secure online payments on behalf of their owners, following a new announcement from Cloudflare. The company said the new capabilities are designed to support trusted agentic commerce by enabling businesses to verify AI agents and process transactions securely.

The announcement introduces Cloudflare Wallets and cloudflare.pay, which together provide AI agents with a stable digital identity and controlled payment capabilities. As AI agents increasingly browse websites, access APIs, and make purchases autonomously, Cloudflare aims to address the trust and payment challenges associated with these interactions.

According to Cloudflare, the Internet was originally built for human users rather than autonomous AI agents. As a result, businesses often cannot determine whether an AI agent represents a legitimate customer or a malicious actor. Existing bot detection technologies were designed for search crawlers and are not intended to identify AI agents that complete transactions on behalf of individuals or organizations.

“The Internet is shifting from human-driven browsing to agent-driven commerce, and the infrastructure needs to keep up,” said Matthew Prince, Co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare.

“When an agent shows up at your door, you need to know who sent it. Cloudflare can give agents a face, a link to the human or organization that owns them, so that trust, accountability, and real commerce can follow. It’s the identity and payment infrastructure the agentic web needs to function.”

With Cloudflare Wallets, every Cloudflare account will receive a unique web address that serves as a persistent digital identity. Users will also be able to assign identities to individual AI agents, allowing businesses to verify exactly who authorized an agent’s activity.

In addition, the platform introduces an Account Wallet that can receive, hold, and manage stablecoins. Users will be able to create Virtual Wallets for individual AI agents, allowing them to make approved purchases within predefined limits.

Cloudflare said these Virtual Wallets include built-in controls. Users can define spending limits, approved merchants, and maximum transaction values, preventing AI agents from exceeding authorized payment thresholds. Furthermore, when combined with Cloudflare’s Monetization Gateway, the solution is intended to support a secure, two-sided payment ecosystem for agentic commerce.

Cloudflare has opened reservations for Wallet handles starting today. Full wallet functionality, including fund onramping, offramping, and the ability to issue Virtual Wallets, is expected to become available in the coming months. Users can reserve a handle through cloudflare.pay and receive notifications when broader access becomes available.

With Cloudflare Wallets, the company aims to establish trusted identity and payment infrastructure that enables AI agents to transact securely while remaining accountable to the individuals and organizations they represent.
