With WhatsApp phishing scams on the rise, Binance has issued a public warning to alert and protect its users. The company reports a significant increase in phishing attempts targeting users through social media and popular messaging platforms like WhatsApp. Binance urges users to stay alert and verify all messages, especially those claiming to be from official representatives.

According to Binance, its communication is strictly limited to official platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, email, and the Binance app. Any communication outside these verified platforms should be treated as suspicious and potentially part of a phishing scam. The warning comes in response to scammers impersonating Binance staff and tricking users into sharing personal or financial information.

These fraudulent messages often create urgency by claiming account issues or security concerns that require immediate action. Victims are usually asked to provide sensitive data or transfer funds under the false belief they’re speaking with Binance. Binance clarifies that it never provides investment advice or requests money through WhatsApp or similar apps. Users are reminded to avoid clicking on suspicious links or responding to unknown messages asking for login credentials or funds.

To help protect accounts, Binance strongly recommends enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) across all user accounts. 2FA adds an extra layer of security, preventing unauthorized access even if your login details are compromised. Nathan Swain, Chief Information Security Officer at Binance, emphasized the company’s ongoing efforts to keep users informed and protected. He stated that Binance is committed to user safety and regularly updates educational materials to counter emerging cyber threats.

Users are encouraged to verify contact details independently through the official Binance app or website before taking any action. Binance also recommends using the “Binance Verify” tool, which helps confirm if an email address is legitimate and safe. The company advises users to rely solely on official support channels for account help or service-related inquiries.

Additionally, Binance suggests users check community groups and forums using official guides to avoid joining fraudulent networks. Scammers continue to adapt their strategies, using professional-sounding language and stolen branding to appear trustworthy. Staying informed and cautious is crucial in avoiding scams and protecting your digital assets in an increasingly risky online world.

Binance urges users to regularly review safety tips, report suspicious activity, and help raise awareness within the community.
