January 28 is recognized globally as Data Privacy Day. It serves as a reminder to safeguard your personal information online.

First, always stay sceptical. If an offer appears too good to be true, it usually is. Avoid sharing personal details with unknown companies offering huge discounts. Often, these are scams designed to steal your credit card information.

Next, slow down when using the internet. Avoid mindless scrolling. Cybercriminals often rely on distracted users to fall for their tricks. Take a moment to think before clicking or sharing.

Also, keep personal information private. Sharing too much online, especially on social media, can expose you to identity theft. If you wouldn’t want it on a public billboard, don’t post it.

Additionally, remember that the Central Bank or police will never ask for your credit card or bank details. Fraudsters often impersonate authorities via text or email. Never share OTPs, CVV codes, or account numbers.

When in public places like coffee shops or airports, be extra cautious. Avoid discussing private matters or displaying sensitive information on your screen. Make calls only in secure, private settings.

Lastly, secure your connected devices. If it’s online, it needs protection. Use strong passwords, enable two-factor authentication, avoid public WiFi, and install anti-malware tools.

With these simple Data Privacy Tips, you can better protect your digital life every day.
