HONOR showcased its Robot Phone at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. The device was presented as part of HONOR’s role as Official Imaging Strategic Partner of the International Promotion Program for Chinese-Language Films.

The HONOR Robot Phone was co-engineered with ARRI. It drew significant attention at the festival for its mechanical gimbal design and professional-grade cinematic imaging capabilities. As a result, the device is opening up new possibilities for mobile filmmaking.

Selected elements of ARRI’s Image Science and professional cinema workflow have been adapted for smartphone use. This gives creators greater flexibility during production. At the same time, it preserves creative control throughout post-production. By bringing professional filmmaking tools into a pocket-sized device, the partnership aims to make cinematic creation more accessible without limiting creative freedom.

For creators, ARRI LogC3 preserves more highlight and shadow information for post-production. Meanwhile, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 provides a broader color space, and ARRI Looks offer controlled cinematic color styles. Through this partnership, the Robot Phone brings ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks together on a single device. Consequently, it supports an integrated mobile capture-to-post-production workflow.

ARRI has helped shape the language of cinema for more than a century, from early film to today’s advanced digital camera systems. Its contributions have been recognized with 20 Scientific and Technical Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

So far, HONOR has showcased the Robot Phone at major film events worldwide, including the 79th Cannes Film Festival, the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, and the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Filmmakers and industry professionals have acknowledged the device’s technical maturity and professional-grade capabilities. Overall, there is growing enthusiasm for further innovation in mobile filmmaking through the Robot Phone.
