Huawei Connect 2024 kicked off its 3-day event in Shanghai, focusing on how industries can leverage AI and digital technologies for transformation. The event, themed “Amplify Intelligence,” aims to explore strategies for industry development, digital ecosystems, and the role of AI in shaping the future.
During the opening keynote, titled “Paving the Way for All Intelligence,” Huawei Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman Eric Xu shared insights into the intelligent transformation of industries. Xu highlighted AI’s significant role in driving growth and efficiency for businesses and outlined Huawei’s strategy for advancing its All Intelligence approach.
David Wang, Executive Director of Huawei and Chairman of the ICT Infrastructure Managing Board, presented a keynote titled “Amplifying Industrial Digitalization and Intelligence.” He shared Huawei’s experiences in helping industries embrace digital and intelligent technologies, while introducing new solutions for AI integration across key sectors. Wang emphasized that the ongoing digital transformation presents tremendous opportunities, positioning AI as a key driver of progress.
Wang also introduced Huawei’s newly developed Global Digitalization Index (GDI), a joint project with IDC that evaluates digital infrastructure components like cloud, computing, storage, and green energy, and quantifies their impact on a nation’s digital economy. Wang noted that for every US$1 invested in ICT, countries can see a return of US$8.3 in their digital economy. Huawei plans to expand on the GDI with the forthcoming Global Digitalization & Intelligence Index (GDII), which will provide insights into the growing role of intelligent applications worldwide.
To support global digital transformation, Huawei also revealed its plan to train over 10 million digital and intelligent professionals by 2030. This initiative aims to cultivate a skilled workforce capable of driving intelligent transformation across industries.
Huawei Connect 2024 also marked the release of the Amplifying Industrial Digitalization & Intelligence Practice White Paper, which includes 100 case studies across industries such as public services, finance, transportation, manufacturing, and energy. These examples offer practical insights for businesses undergoing digital and intelligent transformation.
The event also featured the Global Partner Roundtable and Global Partners’ Night, where Huawei recognized its partners’ contributions by presenting the Huawei Outstanding Partner Awards 2024. The awards celebrated companies that have made significant strides in accelerating industry transformation through AI and digital technologies.
