Huawei Hosts Forum to Boost Digital Transformation in Jordan’s Media Sector

Huawei organized the Huawei Jordan Media Forum on December 5, 2024, in Amman, bringing together senior leaders from Jordan’s major media organizations. The forum focused on addressing digital transformation challenges and opportunities in the media sector, exploring how advanced technologies in networks, cloud, AI, cybersecurity, and ICT solutions can drive the country’s shift toward digital intelligence.

The event aligns with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision (2023-2025) and National Digital Transformation Strategy & Implementation Plan (2021-2025), which prioritize enhancing digital infrastructure, developing digital skills, improving regulatory frameworks, and advancing e-government services.

Ammar Tobba, VP of Public Affairs & Communications at Huawei Middle East & Central Asia, opened the forum by stressing the importance of public-private collaboration to strengthen Jordan’s ICT ecosystem. He also highlighted the need for the media sector to embrace intelligent transformation and nurture local ICT talent to support the country’s knowledge-based, sustainable digital economy.

Huawei Jordan CEO, Adam Zhang, emphasized the rapid growth of Jordan’s digital economy, driven by a young, tech-savvy population and strong government policies. He noted that digital technologies have been successfully integrated across various sectors, enhancing economic growth and public services. Zhang also reaffirmed Huawei’s commitment to supporting Jordan’s digital intelligence through innovative ICT solutions aimed at empowering media organizations, enhancing content creation, distribution, and management, and fostering sustainable growth.

The forum featured keynotes, presentations, and interactive workshops led by Huawei experts, focusing on the media industry’s digital journey. Sessions explored common challenges faced by media organizations, development opportunities, and the creation of a collaborative roadmap tailored to the media sector’s priorities.

Mohammed Sarrif, Regional Director of Digital Industries, presented a digital strategy for media organizations, covering intelligent office campus transformation, optical and wireless networks, building automation, energy efficiency, and smart office solutions. Experts from Huawei and local partners also showcased solutions like AI-powered video management, integrated operations center capabilities, and advanced technologies for smart campuses, cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and automation.

Huawei highlighted several key tools for media organizations, including Object Storage Service (OBS), Content Delivery Network (CDN), Cloud Search Service (CSS), Media Processing Centre (MPC), and Video on Demand (VOD) services. The company’s focus on sustainability was also evident, with green data center technologies and energy-efficient infrastructure designed to help media organizations reduce their carbon footprint while maintaining performance.

Huawei’s initiatives in Jordan align with the country’s national goals for digital transformation. Since entering the market in 2005, Huawei has built long-term strategic partnerships and actively contributes to ICT talent development through initiatives such as the Huawei ICT Academy, Seeds for the Future program, and ICT Competition.

Huawei is also dedicated to empowering Jordanian youth with cutting-edge technology and supporting them in global competitions. In 2023-2024, two teams from Jordan earned second place worldwide in the Huawei ICT Competition, and five students reached the semi-finals of the Seeds for the Future competition for 2024-2025.
