Huawei, in partnership with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE), announced the launch of the 10th Huawei Middle East and Central Asia ICT Competition at GITEX Global 2025.

The launch event was attended by Ekaterina Pushkareva, Programme Specialist at UNESCO IITE; Cong Liang, Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Huawei Middle East & Central Asia; and Mehedi Hasan Limon, Vice President for Public Sector, Education & Healthcare, Huawei Middle East & Central Asia.

Huawei revealed that it has trained over half a million ICT talents through its ecosystem initiatives. The company marked this 10th edition by reaffirming its goal to develop one million digital talents over the next decade.

Since its inception, the Huawei ICT Competition has become one of the largest talent development platforms in the region. Over the past nine editions, it has engaged 19 countries, 800 universities, and more than 140,000 university students. The most recent 2024–2025 edition took place in Saudi Arabia.

The competition aims to enhance students’ ICT knowledge, practical skills, and innovative capabilities. Huawei emphasized that the development of intelligent talent remains central to the region’s digital transformation efforts.

The 10th edition will feature national and regional competitions, with finalists advancing to the global level.
• The Practice Competition will test skills across the Network, Computing, and Cloud Tracks.
• The Innovation Competition will focus on advancing AI innovation through real-world applications.

Outstanding participants will receive Huawei MateBook, MatePad, and Watch prizes, along with honorary certificates jointly issued by Huawei and UNESCO IITE. Winners will also earn air tickets to China for the Global Final and access internship opportunities through Huawei’s Eagle Talent Program.

Ekaterina Pushkareva said the Huawei ICT Competition aligns with UNESCO’s mission to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusive innovation. She noted that the competition helps students gain technical skills, teamwork experience, and confidence to contribute to their communities.

Cong Liang stated that the competition has evolved into a major platform for empowering young innovators. He reaffirmed Huawei’s commitment to training one million ICT talents in the coming years, focusing on AI, cloud, and emerging technologies.

Through the Huawei ICT Academy, the company has trained more than 1.3 million students in 110 countries, collaborating with over 3,000 universities. Huawei’s partnerships with UNESCO and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) continue to strengthen its role in global talent development and AI-driven education.
