A humanoid robot competing against human runners has broken a world record at a Beijing half-marathon. The humanoid robot showcased rapid technological progress by Chinese makers during the race.

The event took place in Beijing. The humanoid robot, equipped with an autonomous navigation system, ran for Chinese smartphone maker Honor. It completed the 21km (13-mile) course in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. Additionally, it maintained an average speed of about 25km/h (15.5mph), according to state broadcaster CCTV.

Meanwhile, the performance was significantly faster than the top human finisher in Sunday’s race. It also surpassed the current men’s world record of 57:20, which is held by Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo. This result highlighted a major milestone in robotics and competitive performance.

Overall, the achievement marks a notable step forward in sports robotics, as the humanoid robot continues to push the boundaries of speed and autonomous movement.
