Light + Intelligent Building Middle East 2026, MENA’s leading event for lighting and building technology, will be held from 12-14 January at Dubai World Trade Centre, co-located with Intersec. The event is expected to welcome over 16,000 industry professionals and feature more than 600 brands from 30+ countries.

As part of the event, the Smart Building Summit will examine the evolving regulatory landscape shaping smart and sustainable buildings. Experts will discuss standards, policies, and government incentives driving smart building adoption.

Mohamed Ahmed Amer, Managing Director, MENA, International Code Council (ICC), said regulations across the GCC are evolving to support Construction 4.0. He added that alignment with international codes like IBC, IECC, and IgCC positions the region among the most progressive global markets for smart buildings.

Irem Kurtuluş Korkmaz, Director, Urban Policy Center, Marmara Municipalities Union, Türkiye, highlighted how disaster-risk policies and government initiatives are accelerating smart building adoption, especially after the 2023 earthquakes. Technologies influencing regulations include smart meters, building automation systems, heat pumps, and high-efficiency HVAC.

Abdul Muhsin, Show Director for Light + Intelligent Building Middle East, commented that the summit will allow stakeholders to connect, discuss policy impacts, and explore topics from sustainability to smart building design.
