Meta has officially expanded its AI assistant, Meta AI, to the Middle East and North Africa, bringing a powerful tool that enables users in the region to learn, create, and connect with the things and people they care about most. The feature is being gradually rolled out across the region, with full accessibility already available in key markets, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, and Iraq.

Meta AI is seamlessly integrated into Meta’s family of apps—Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. The AI assistant is easily accessible through its blue circle icon within these apps, requiring no prior registration. Users can also interact with Meta AI in group chats by typing ‘@Meta AI,’ making it a valuable tool for quick research, brainstorming, and planning. For instance, when planning a spring trip with family, users can ask Meta AI for tailored island destination suggestions within a six-hour flight from the UAE, and the AI will instantly generate a list for the group to discuss.

Powered by Meta’s largest and most advanced open-source large language model, Llama 3.2, Meta AI can generate text, create, and animate images directly within Meta apps. With the “Imagine” feature, users can type detailed descriptions like “Imagine a tiger wearing a vest drinking tea at a café,” and Meta AI will generate and animate the image in real-time.

In addition to the rollout, Meta AI now supports Arabic, broadening its reach across the region. Fares Akkad, Regional Director for Middle East and Africa at Meta, expressed his excitement: “Meta AI is one of the world’s leading AI assistants already in your pocket, free to use. We believe that having a reliable assistant will be one of the defining benefits of this generation of AI. Meta AI is on track to become the most used AI assistant in the world by the end of the year, and we’re thrilled to bring its transformative potential to the MENA region.”

To celebrate the arrival of Meta AI in MENA, Meta is launching “Elevating Every Moment”—a content series that will help users unlock the full potential of Meta AI. The series includes tips, practical use cases, and collaborations with regional creators on Instagram, such as Yara Boumonsef, Amro Maskoun, Raghad Zamel, and Abdullah Al Sabe. Meta is also launching an educational series on the official Meta Arabia page to assist users in crafting effective prompts for both professional and personal tasks.

“We’re already seeing how Meta AI helps users dive into projects, solve how-to tasks, and get inspiration for art, home décor, outfits, and more,” said Fares Akkad. “Image generation has been particularly popular, and we’re excited to see the new, creative ways people in our region will use AI.”

The rollout of Meta AI also brings exciting, future features, including simultaneous dubbing for Reels content, real-time image editing, and the upcoming “Imagine Me” feature, which generates personalized, editable portraits. Additionally, Meta AI will soon introduce tools to help users craft captions for their posts, making creativity and connection easier than ever.

With nearly 700 million active monthly users, Meta AI is already one of the most widely used AI assistants in the world. It is available in 42 countries and 13 languages, with even more advanced multimodal features on the horizon.
