OpenAI funding talks involve multiple UAE investment funds, including Abu Dhabi based MGX, as the ChatGPT maker seeks to anchor a $30 billion financing round, according to Bloomberg News.

The UAE funds are discussing forming a syndicate to invest in the round. The funds have discussed contributing as much as $10 billion collectively, according to people familiar with the matter.

BlackRock is also in discussions to participate in the round alongside the UAE investor syndicate. However, the fundraising remains ongoing, and the details could change.

OpenAI and BlackRock declined to comment. Representatives for MGX did not respond to requests for comment outside normal business hours.

OpenAI is seeking at least $30 billion in capital at a valuation of about $1.4 trillion. The company has also pushed back plans for an initial public offering until at least 2027, citing its focus on AI safety efforts, Bloomberg reported.

OpenAI most recently raised $122 billion in March at an $852 billion valuation, including the money raised in that round.

MGX has previously invested in OpenAI and Anthropic funding rounds. The investment firm also raised close to $50 billion earlier in 2026 to accelerate spending on AI infrastructure and technology, according to Bloomberg.

OpenAI has also held discussions with the University of California’s endowment fund, an existing investor, about participating in the round. Existing backers Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz have also discussed investing, according to people familiar with the matter.

Thrive Capital declined to comment. Representatives for Andreessen Horowitz and the University of California did not respond to requests for comment.

Unlike typical venture funding rounds, OpenAI is presenting investors with a $1.4 trillion pre money valuation as a set price. The company has not yet settled on a lead investor, according to the people.

The OpenAI funding talks remain ongoing, with the final participants, investment amounts and terms still subject to change.
