OpenAI has launched an updated version of its Deep Research tool within ChatGPT. The tool now runs on the OpenAI o4-mini model, aiming to improve accessibility while maintaining quality.

The announcement came via OpenAI’s official account on X, formerly known as Twitter. According to the company, the OpenAI o4-mini model is almost as intelligent as the original version used for source-backed reports.

The new version offers shorter responses. However, it continues to deliver detailed and accurate outputs, staying true to OpenAI’s high standards.

Now, Free users of ChatGPT can access Deep Research with a limit of five tasks per month. Plus and Team plan subscribers receive 25 tasks per month, covering both the original and lightweight versions. Pro plan users benefit from 250 tasks monthly.

Furthermore, starting next week, Enterprise and Education plan users will also gain access. The task limits will match those of Plus and Team tiers.

Deep Research allows users to analyze websites and multiple online sources efficiently. Even with the lightweight update, the tool preserves depth, accuracy, and reference-backed reporting.

By introducing the OpenAI o4-mini powered version, OpenAI ensures that more users can benefit from its advanced research capabilities without compromising performance.
