Presight, a global big data analytics and applied intelligence company, has signed a landmark six-year agreement worth USD $190 million with the Akimat (municipal government) of Astana, Kazakhstan. This agreement will deploy an AI-powered smart city project aimed at digitizing urban infrastructure, enhancing traffic management, and modernizing public services.
The smart city initiative promises wide-reaching benefits, including reduced traffic congestion, improved emergency response times, and a more sustainable urban environment. By leveraging AI and IoT-enabled infrastructure, the project will create a digital twin of Astana, optimizing liveability, safety, and community well-being.
A significant aspect of the project is its contribution to Kazakhstan’s economy, with Kazakhstani companies responsible for 60 percent of the project’s scope. This ensures local job creation, investment, and in-country value generation.
This agreement follows Presight’s continued expansion in Kazakhstan, including the 2024 partnership with the Kazakhstan Ministry of Digital Development and Samruk-Kazyna, which tasked Presight with developing a state-of-the-art AI supercomputer and data center cluster. Additionally, Presight’s 2023 partnership with Astana Hub aims to support IT startups in Central Asia through venture financing deals.
To further support its growing operations in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, Presight has also announced the expansion of its office in Astana.
