Pure Storage® (NYSE: PSTG), a data storage technology company, has announced Pure Storage Cloud for Microsoft Azure VMware Solution (AVS), a fully managed block storage-as-a-service (STaaS) now integrated natively with Azure. Available soon in preview, this new offering empowers enterprise customers with streamlined cloud migrations and optimized storage for VMware workloads on the Azure platform.

This Azure-native integration allows enterprises to manage storage directly through the Azure Portal, leveraging their existing Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitments (MACC). Pure Storage Cloud for AVS simplifies the migration of storage-heavy VMware workloads to the cloud by decoupling compute and storage, helping enterprises avoid unnecessary compute expenses while optimizing storage scalability and costs.

Pure Storage’s new cloud offering addresses the common challenges of VMware migrations to the cloud, where enterprises often face storage cost and complexity issues. Traditional cloud environments don’t typically mirror on-premises storage setups, forcing organizations to refactor infrastructure to transition to the cloud effectively. The Pure Storage Cloud for AVS enables organizations to seamlessly migrate these workloads while preserving a familiar block storage experience that scales to meet enterprise demands.

The new service brings substantial cost efficiencies, allowing enterprises to save up to 40% on Azure VMware Solution (AVS) expenses by decoupling compute and storage, optimizing cloud resources, and reducing total cost of ownership. This streamlined approach frees up resources for innovation, empowering organizations to reallocate budgets toward business growth.

In terms of resilience, Pure Storage Cloud for AVS offers built-in data protection through Pure Storage SafeMode™ Snapshots, providing enterprise-grade security to safeguard cloud data. Should data loss occur, enterprises can restore their AVS environments quickly, ensuring business continuity with minimal downtime.

Executives from Pure Storage and Microsoft expressed their commitment to enhancing the cloud migration experience. Shawn Hansen, GM of Core Platform at Pure Storage, noted that Pure Storage Cloud for Microsoft Azure VMware Solution eliminates migration hurdles, enabling scalable and resilient cloud storage aligned with business needs. Scott Hunter, VP at Microsoft Developer Division, praised the integration, highlighting how the collaboration allows customers to manage Pure Storage seamlessly within the Azure environment, promoting cost efficiency and simplifying operations.

With Pure Storage Cloud for AVS, enterprises can experience seamless VMware workload migration to the cloud, cost-efficient storage management, robust data resilience, and simplified infrastructure—making it an ideal solution for companies advancing their cloud journey on Azure.
