The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), has announced a strategic agreement with Quantinuum, in quantum computing and quantum hardware.

The collaboration aims to accelerate the development and benchmarking of next-generation quantum computing algorithms and commercial applications in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

TII researchers will gain access to Quantinuum’s advanced quantum hardware systems. This includes the upcoming Helios platform, which is expected to demonstrate enhanced gate fidelity and qubit connectivity.

Quantinuum’s systems are recognized for their high operational fidelity. TII’s expanded ecosystem now includes:

  • In-house superconducting quantum chips
  • IonQ’s trapped-ion processors
  • Access to devices from Rigetti, IQM, and QUERA via AWS Braket

This agreement strengthens the UAE’s growing reputation in science and technology. It supports the development of improved quantum algorithms and fosters advanced research.

Key areas of focus revealed include:

  • Chemistry and materials science, such as estimating quantum system properties
  • Classical-to-quantum data integration for image processing
  • Solving complex optimization problems using minimal qubits

The partnership also aims to train the next generation of quantum algorithm developers. TII reported that this move equips the UAE and the broader region to adopt emerging quantum technologies effectively.

Dr. Leandro Aolita, Chief Researcher at TII’s Quantum Research Center, stated the partnership will keep the UAE at the forefront of quantum research and innovation.

Dr. Avinash “Nash” Palaniswamy, Chief Commercial Officer at Quantinuum, noted the deal reflects a shared vision to anchor global quantum ecosystems and unlock transformative value.
