Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Keolis MHI, has introduced an innovative digital platform to streamline inspection operations at Dubai Metro and Tram stations. This system is designed to enhance operational efficiency and improve the overall passenger experience, aligning with RTA’s strategy to advance public transport services through technological solutions.
The new platform automates inspection procedures and improves monitoring of passenger violations, such as unauthorized use of the Gold Class cabin by Silver nol cardholders and the misuse of spaces designated for women. It also optimizes the deployment of fare inspectors, focusing on high-priority areas where violations are more likely to occur.
By enabling real-time tracking of inspectors’ performance and ticket inspection activities, the system provides live updates and generates analytical reports on operational outcomes. During major events, inspection teams are strategically deployed at high-footfall stations, based on data analysis, to predict and manage areas prone to violations, ensuring faster and more effective responses.
The system also helps identify repeat offenders by recording passenger data, allowing for targeted educational efforts on regulation compliance. This has led to a 14% increase in monthly inspection rates and improved detection of violations, further promoting passenger adherence to Dubai Metro and Tram regulations.
In addition to boosting operational efficiency, this cutting-edge technology contributes to urban sustainability by reducing resource consumption and promoting environmentally friendly practices. A dedicated centre has been established to enhance inspection oversight, ensuring optimal resource utilization and real-time monitoring of operational activities.
The new platform is an essential part of RTA’s commitment to fostering a safer, more sustainable transport ecosystem in Dubai.
