His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, conducted an inspection visit to the headquarters of the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

He was received by Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, Director-General of the Centre and President of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), along with senior officials.

During the visit, Sheikh Mansour was briefed on the NCM’s advanced infrastructure and meteorological technologies. He toured the operations centre, weather forecasting units, cloud seeding systems, marine monitoring units, and renewable energy forecasting sections.

It was revealed that the Centre is using a state-of-the-art supercomputer, one of the region’s most advanced, for numerical weather prediction. This technology enhances climate data analysis, improves forecasting accuracy, and boosts early warning capabilities.

He also visited the Media Affairs Unit, where NCM showcased a range of digital platforms and smart applications. These tools deliver real-time weather alerts, interactive maps, and public awareness features.

Notably, the “Early Warning for All” platform was presented. Developed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it ensures UAE citizens abroad receive alerts during extreme weather events, reinforcing global climate risk coordination.

Additionally, Sheikh Mansour toured the Science Dome, an educational initiative promoting environmental and climate awareness. The Dome offers interactive presentations and workshops to inspire students and the wider public in environmental sciences.

Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous expressed appreciation for the leadership’s ongoing support. He stressed that it drives NCM’s commitment to innovation and national service.

The National Centre plays a key role in:

  • Supporting UAE’s sustainability and climate readiness policies
  • Participating in international efforts to address climate change

It was reported that the Centre is recognized as a leading regional institution, contributing significantly to the UAE’s climate strategy.
