Eleven of the UAE’s top e-commerce retailers and platforms have partnered with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) by signing the Compliance Pledge, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing product quality and safety standards in online retail.

This pledge, signed in Dubai, ensures that products sold on these platforms meet the UAE’s rigorous standards and technical regulations. Major platforms such as Amazon, Noon, Al-Futtaim Group (IKEA, Ace Hardware, Watsons, Toys ‘R’ Us, Marks & Spencer), Nikai Group, Jacky’s Retail, Lulu International Group, Al Ghandi Electronics, Sharaf DG, Al Yousuf Electronics, and Samsung have committed to this initiative, reinforcing consumer trust and ensuring a safer shopping experience.

Omar Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary of MoIAT, emphasized the pledge’s role in advancing the goals of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, highlighting the collaboration between the government and private sector. He urged more e-commerce platforms to join the pledge to continually improve product quality and safety.

This initiative also supports the growth of the UAE’s e-commerce sector, with sales projected to reach $9.2 billion by 2026, according to Dubai Chamber of Commerce analysis.

MoIAT continues to promote compliance with laws and technical regulations through monitoring and awareness campaigns, voluntary product recalls, and consumer information efforts, ensuring a safer market environment.
