Cisco has released its inaugural State of Wireless Report, highlighting how wireless has become a strategic growth engine in the UAE. A single network investment is now delivering compounding returns across efficiency, productivity, customer engagement, and revenue.

According to the report, organizations across the UAE are reaching an inflection point in connectivity demand. As a result, those that prioritize wireless strategically are achieving stronger business value.

However, the findings introduce what is described as the “wireless AI paradox.” While AI is driving wireless ROI, it is also increasing operational complexity, security risks, and pressure on talent. Therefore, whether this becomes a barrier or advantage depends on how organizations respond.

The report outlines a clear path forward. Organizations are encouraged to simplify operations, modernize security, and invest in skills. This approach can help address challenges and unlock greater value from wireless infrastructure.

Across the UAE, businesses that prioritize wireless are already seeing measurable gains. For instance, more than 89% report improved operational efficiency. Meanwhile, 88% highlight gains in employee productivity. In addition, 82% report enhanced customer engagement, and 83% see positive revenue impacts.

These results reinforce the growing importance of modern wireless infrastructure. As AI workloads, IoT adoption, and connectivity demands increase, wireless is becoming a strategic priority.

Abdelilah Nejjari, Managing Director for Gulf and Levant at Cisco, stated that organizations are shifting their perspective. They now view wireless as a foundation for growth in the AI era. He added that simplifying operations, strengthening security, and improving visibility will help manage rising complexity.

At the same time, the report highlights growing operational challenges. Nearly 97% of organizations say wireless operations are becoming more complex. Moreover, 67% spend most of their time on reactive troubleshooting. Additionally, 87% report visibility gaps that limit effective Wi-Fi issue resolution.

Security risks are also increasing. Around 83% of organizations experienced at least one wireless security incident in the past year. Furthermore, 58% reported financial losses linked to these incidents. Of those, 52% recorded losses exceeding $1 million. Meanwhile, 31% faced disruption due to compromised IoT or OT devices.

Talent shortages are adding further pressure. About 86% of organizations report challenges in hiring wireless talent. Many professionals are shifting toward AI and cybersecurity roles. Consequently, this shortage is raising operating costs, lowering morale, and reducing innovation.

Overall, the findings show that addressing complexity, security, and talent challenges is critical. In conclusion, organizations that adopt a strategic and holistic approach will be better positioned to maximize returns from wireless investments, according to Cisco.
