Huawei has announced that the Huawei Arab Innovation Day 2021 will take place on October 19 at Dubai World Trade Centre‘s Al Multaqa Ballroom. The annual event, which will take place on the sidelines of GITEX Global, will bring together government leaders, academia, industry experts, and regulators from throughout the region, as well as Huawei’s senior leadership team.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Collaboration to Drive Innovations in the Arab World.” Catherine Chen, Senior VP, Director of the Board & President of Huawei’s Public Affairs & Communications Department, will deliver the opening keynote speech. Ministerial and senior leaders from Arab countries, regional and international industry groups, and high-level ICT stakeholders from various verticals and industries will speak after that.
Huawei Arab Innovation Day 2021 will focus on laying out a roadmap for the Arab world’s adoption of emerging technologies, emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity, and discussing the benefits of incorporating technologies such as 5G, Cloud, and AI into the development of verticals, key industries, business, and services. The event will also emphasize the importance of ICT technology in promoting regional socioeconomic progress, particularly in supporting Arab states’ ambitious national plans and objectives that prioritize ICT development.

The conference is taking place at a time when both the public and private sectors are investing heavily in ICT infrastructure. According to Gartner, IT investment in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is expected to reach $171 billion this year, up 4.5 percent from 2020. Many national development plans in the Middle East increasingly include digital innovation as a key component for diversifying local economies, creating future jobs, and driving sustainable development.
This year’s Huawei Arab Innovation Day will focus on how ICT innovation is driving digital transformation in the Arab world, the keys to creating future ICT leaders, improving education, and strategies for strengthening the development path of all key sectors and industries, as well as developing the region’s digital economy’s security roadmap and standards. The conference’s Digital Transformation session will address some of the region’s most important ICT concerns, such as the gaps and obstacles in the digital transformation journey that Middle East’s ICT ecosystem stakeholders must overcome in order to be ready for the post-pandemic world.
Its cybersecurity panel discussion will focus on the necessity of creating a safe and resilient digital economy, emphasizing the need of open collaboration for shared success in cybersecurity and public-private partnerships. This workshop will also emphasize the importance of building a security baseline for handling cybersecurity requirements coming from Arab nation states’ digital transformation initiatives. In addition, a panel of regional education experts will meet to discuss the importance of ICT innovation in addressing the gaps and issues that the Arab world’s education sector faces and the objectives for collaborating on the development of local ICT talent.
The panelists will also examine the significance of R&D-based education in building an advanced education model for students and overcoming the ICT skill gap to address national objectives and visions.
