Saudi Arabia – His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Engineer Haitham bin Abdul Rahman Al-Ohali, inaugurated the much-anticipated HUAWEI CLOUD Saudi Summit 2023, a groundbreaking event supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and organized by Huawei. This significant gathering aims to propel the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia further along its digital transformation journey, aligning seamlessly with the ambitious Vision 2030.

The event saw the esteemed presence of Steven Yi, Senior Vice President of Huawei and President of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, along with several senior MCIT officials and influential leaders from the local and regional technology and business sectors. The summit’s launch is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the Ministry and Huawei in advancing digitalization across the Kingdom, in line with the nation’s overarching strategy and vision.

One of the most noteworthy announcements during the HUAWEI CLOUD Saudi Summit 2023 was the introduction of the Huawei Cloud Riyadh Region, heralding a new era of digital-driven economic growth and prosperity. This move is part of HUAWEI CLOUD’s extensive plans to invest substantially in cloud infrastructure within Saudi Arabia, a commitment initially unveiled during the second edition of LEAP 2023.

H.E. Eng. Haitham bin Abdul Rahman Al-Ohali, Vice Minister at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Saudi Arabia, expressed his optimism regarding this monumental achievement: “Huawei is a proud partner in our country’s technological progress, having collaborated with the Ministry, service providers, enterprises, and universities in various collective efforts aimed at digital transformation. We eagerly anticipate the transformative impact the HUAWEI CLOUD Riyadh Region will have on our digital ecosystem, paving the way for new avenues of innovation and growth.”

Steven Yi, Senior Vice President of Huawei and President of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, shared his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to witness the realization of our vision for HUAWEI CLOUD in Saudi Arabia. Under the theme ‘Advance Intelligence for Saudi Arabia,’ the summit served as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, fostering relationships and cooperation among national and international companies. It encouraged the sharing of success stories, best practices, and insights into the digital transformation process.

At the HUAWEI CLOUD Summit Saudi Arabia 2023, the company unveiled the ‘Saudi Arabia Go Cloud Go Global’ plan, designed to connect Chinese and Saudi enterprises on an international scale, fostering growth and innovation. Leveraging their extensive experience in over 170 countries and regions, diverse industries, advanced technologies, and solutions, Huawei aims to facilitate the entry of Chinese enterprises into Saudi Arabia while strengthening partnerships with local stakeholders.

The event also featured the announcement that HUAWEI CLOUD will embark on a mission to train 500,000 developers in Saudi Arabia over the next five years. Furthermore, the company will collaborate with 1,000 local partners to develop joint solutions and launch the HUAWEI CLOUD Entrepreneurship Program, intended to support the growth of 2,000 startups.

Highlighting their commitment to advancing intelligence in Saudi Arabia, HUAWEI CLOUD revealed plans to deploy several industry-leading technologies. Among these is the Pangu 3.0 model, specifically designed to address AI adoption challenges. It aims to leverage industry insights to enhance AI capabilities across various sectors, including finance, government, and manufacturing. The Pangu 3.0 AI model is set to usher in a new era of innovation in the Kingdom, further accelerating economic diversification.

The HUAWEI CLOUD Saudi Summit 2023 undoubtedly marks a pivotal moment in Saudi Arabia’s journey toward becoming a digital powerhouse, with Huawei’s unwavering commitment to driving progress and innovation at the forefront.
