Huawei has revealed the top 20 shortlisted apps for the Huawei HMS App Innovation Contest (Apps UP) flagship event. The 2021 edition of the competition attracted over 2,000 applications, demonstrating global and regional interest in the initiative. This year’s 20 regional nominated apps represent some of the most motivated developers and programmers in the Middle East and Africa, positively contributing to the digital ecosystem by building smooth, intelligent, and creative applications across many categories.

The top 20 regional shortlisted apps were chosen for their originality, social value, commercial value, and overall user experience. Al Mosaly, Blind Assistant, Coresthetics, Droppa, Emergency Buddy, Handyman Calculator, K53 APP, Limit, LittleAstro, Mobile Gamepad, MyTV+, Quran University, STEPPI, Scary Teacher 3D, Secura, Sleep Sounds, Real Car Race Game 3D, UniAPS, The Muslim Diary, and WashyWash are among the apps included in the list.

From September 29 to October 10 (GMT+8), everyone can vote for their favourite applications on the competition’s website (https://bit.ly/3igFslS). Each email ID can vote up to ten times each day, with a total of three votes per app. The judges’ votes will account for 80% of the final results, while public votes will account for 20%.

Adam Xiao, Managing Director, HMS and Consumer Cloud Service for HUAWEI Consumer Business Group MEA, said, “This year’s regional shortlisted apps are truly inspirational and clearly showcase the immense potential of talent available here to build seamless and innovative applications that create long-term value for their users. The strength of the submissions reaffirms our belief that the regional developer community has the skills, desire and potential to address societal challenges and create scalable solutions the world needs today.”

The Huawei HMS App Innovation Contest (Apps UP) in 2021 spanned over 100 days and covered more than 200 countries and territories, including China, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Over 600 teams applied for the Tech Women’s Award category, which is the most recent addition to the competition and aims to recognise outstanding women in technology. The competition’s submission period closed on September 5, 2021, and all entries were subjected to a preliminary examination by a panel of Huawei judges and industry professionals from each region.
