Sir Nick Carter former Chief of Defence Staff to lead at Intersec

Sir Nick Carter, the former Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom, will speak at Intersec and share insights from his incredible 44-year military career.

Sir Nick served as the professional head of the British Armed Forces and the most senior uniformed military adviser to the Secretary of State for Defence and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in his former position. He joined the Army in 1977 and served in Germany during the Cold War, Northern Ireland during the Troubles, Cyprus with the UN, and as the commanding officer of a battalion on operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.

Since 2014, he has served as the Chief of the General Staff, the British Army’s professional leader, and has led it through the most recent Security and Defence Review in 2015. In 2018, he was appointed to the position of Chief of the Defence Staff.

Sir Nick will speak publicly for the first time since retiring from the military at Intersec, which will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from January 16 to 18, 2022.

Following his service in the Balkans, Sir Nick served as a brigade commander in Iraq in 2003/4 and again in Afghanistan from 2002 and 2013. On his first tour, he was in charge of the design of Provincial Reconstruction Teams and the Afghan National Army. During the Afghan’surge,’ he supervised the handover process with now-former President Ghani as the NATO mission’s Deputy Commander, commanding 55,000 NATO troops in Regional Command South.

The flagship event’s 23rd edition will be held under His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s sponsorship, with the subject ‘Uniting the World’s Leading Industry Specialists for the Safety & Security’.

The show’s extensive development will see the industry’s brightest minds convene for a world-class three-day conference with six industry pillars: Global Security Leaders’ Summit, Protecting Future Connected Cities & Citizens Conference, Safeguarding Critical Infrastructure Conference, Agile First Responders Conference, Cyber Lab, and a dedicated KSA Focus Day.

Official Supporters include Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Defence, Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA), Dubai Municipality, and the UAE Cyber Security Council, demonstrating Intersec’s strategic importance to the UAE.
