Apple has introduced a revolutionary hearing health experience with AirPods Pro 2, now available in the United Arab Emirates. This includes a scientifically validated Hearing Test, a clinical-grade Hearing Aid feature, and Loud Sound Reduction. Apple has received marketing authorization from the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention for these features, offering users a seamless and innovative solution for hearing health.

Dr. Lubaina Sharafally, audiologist at the American Hospital Dubai, praised this development, stating, “The new Hearing Test and Hearing Aid features bring transformative opportunities for individuals with hearing impairments in the UAE. Conducting a hearing test through a user-friendly app and sharing results with healthcare providers streamlines the diagnostic process, enabling quicker interventions and personalized treatment. This technology empowers individuals to take control of their hearing health and fosters collaboration with healthcare professionals for better outcomes.”

The World Health Organization estimates that 1.5 billion people worldwide are living with hearing loss. Untreated hearing loss is linked to decreased well-being, increased social isolation, and higher risks of dementia. Addressing this global issue, Apple’s Hearing Test offers a simple and scientifically validated solution based on pure-tone audiometry. The test can be taken at home using AirPods Pro 2 and a compatible iPhone or iPad, delivering results in under five minutes. The test results, including an audiogram and hearing level classification, are stored securely in the Health app and can be shared with healthcare providers for informed treatment discussions.

For those with mild to moderate hearing loss, AirPods Pro 2 now feature a clinical-grade Hearing Aid capability. This function uses personalized hearing profiles created through the Hearing Test to dynamically adjust sounds in real time, enhancing conversations and environmental awareness. The feature also automatically applies to music, movies, phone calls, and games across all Apple devices, ensuring a consistent and enhanced user experience. Users can also configure the Hearing Aid feature with an audiogram provided by professional audiologists, offering flexibility and customization.

The Loud Sound Reduction feature, enabled in Transparency and Adaptive Audio modes, minimizes exposure to loud environmental noises. Powered by the H2 chip, this function processes sound at 48,000 times per second, ensuring a natural listening experience even in noisy settings such as concerts or public events.

The Hearing Test and Hearing Aid features are available for AirPods Pro 2 users aged 18 and above with the latest firmware and a compatible device running iOS 18 or iPadOS 18. These features are now accessible in over 100 countries, including the UAE.
