Cisco has unveiled new functionalities for its Mobility Services Platform, designed to drive innovation and create differentiated value from networks. Built and deployed globally as a service, the platform is open to developers, Communication Service Providers (CSPs), and enterprises. It allows users to generate new value from traditional IoT and voice services to emerging AI-based applications, covering people, spaces, and intelligent machines.

The platform has already been applied across key use cases, providing solutions for people, places, and fast-evolving intelligent machines. Recognized by Frost & Sullivan and Counterpoint as the industry-leading Connectivity Management Platform (CMP), it is setting new standards for service delivery in the tech industry.

Introducing Cisco Programmable Core: Innovation Through Mobile Core-as-a-Service

Cisco’s Programmable Core, now generally available, is transforming mobile core networks into sources of differentiation, innovation, and growth. Delivered as-a-service and fully orchestrated by Cisco, the Programmable Core allows CSPs to quickly target high-growth opportunities, including Network-as-a-Service, Mobile Virtual Network Enablement platforms, Fixed Wireless Access, IoT solutions, and more.

This comprehensive end-to-end offering handles voice, messaging, and data services for IoT, private networks, and public network use-cases, unlocking the potential of 5G advanced services. CSPs can deploy the Programmable Core alongside existing infrastructure or as a primary core for full as-a-service offerings.

Zayan Sadek, Managing Director for Service Providers MEA at Cisco, commented: “The introduction of new functionalities in the Cisco Mobility Services Platform and the availability of Cisco Programmable Core mark a significant step forward in how Communication Service Providers and enterprises can create and scale differentiated services. These solutions enable agility, faster innovation, and expanded monetization opportunities, empowering partners to unlock new value from their networks.”

Mobility Services Platform: Driving Differentiated Value with New Functionality

The Mobility Services Platform introduces several new services aimed at helping CSPs and their enterprise customers capture new revenue opportunities:

  • Smart Grid IoT Solutions: Service providers can offer comprehensive smart meter solutions with automated device management, real-time monitoring, analytics, and security features, reducing upfront costs for utilities and municipalities.
  • Borderless Business Connectivity: Fixed Wireless Access-as-a-Service enables high-speed wireless connectivity for businesses and branch offices with virtualized network functions, centralized management, and streamlined eSIM provisioning.
  • Adapt Networks for Use-Cases: CSPs and car OEMs can prioritize traffic and ensure quality of service for more efficient network use.
  • Connected Car Retail Subscriptions: OEMs can launch retail subscription services for car owners utilizing dynamic policy charging and on-demand 5G standalone network slicing.
  • API Monetization: CSPs can track, understand, and monetize actual API usage, allowing enterprises to purchase additional capacity as needed.
  • Seamless Enterprise Security Integration: Integration with existing enterprise security to deliver cross-network protection.
  • eSIM Flex: Aligns business needs with device management, supporting IoT M2M profiles and expanding to support the GSMA SGP .32 standard for greater device compatibility.

Enhanced Flexibility and Operations

  • In-Country or Cloud Deployment: Offers deployment flexibility on dedicated hardware or AWS infrastructure globally, speeding up market delivery.
  • Standard API Exposure (TMForum): Simplified service creation and orchestration using catalog-driven APIs.
  • Advanced Analytics: Provides insights into usage anomalies, account churn, provisioning, and dynamic dashboarding.
  • AI Assistant: Helps users derive value more quickly from the platform.

New Packet Core Capabilities

Cisco’s Converged Core technology delivers several new capabilities for customers, including:

  • 5G Advanced: Enabling services like mass-scale IoT, low-latency support, and Agentic AI workload integrations.
  • Flexible Optimization: Supports 5G Advanced capabilities while maintaining traditional voice and data services with a single software base.
