Huawei announced major advancements in 5G Advanced (5G-A) experience monetization and AI-powered services at MWC Shanghai 2025. The event was held from June 18 to June 20 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

The company revealed its exhibition theme as “Accelerating the Intelligent World,” aiming to engage global carriers, partners, and industry leaders. Huawei focused on exploring new paths for carrier development through AI integration.

Huawei showcased progress in three key areas:

  • Services: Huawei revealed the success of 5G-A monetization and AI-to-X application projects with China’s top carriers.
  • Infrastructure: The company launched its AI Ultra-Broadband (AI UBB) solution, covering all network layers. This includes enhancements from home broadband to transport networks, boosting AI performance and network autonomy.
  • Operations: Huawei and carriers shared achievements in intelligent wireless and broadband operations, including AI computing services for model training and inference.

The company reported that commercial 5G-A adoption is gaining momentum across China, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Carriers in these regions are exploring new experience monetization models.

Huawei also hosted partner presentations on building AI-centric networks and discussed creating AI computing hubs to drive business success. These initiatives aim to improve the AI application experience and enable sustainable growth.

Eric Xu, Huawei’s Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman, delivered a keynote highlighting growth pathways in the telecom industry. He noted that the sector has entered a phase of steady development and faces challenges to continued expansion.

Xu outlined four strategic opportunities:

  • Address evolving user needs with high-growth services.
  • Expand HD video services through ecosystem collaboration.
  • Enable intelligent connected vehicles with 5G-A.
  • Support small businesses through FTTR and AI-based solutions.

Huawei emphasized that carriers have unique conditions and must explore customized growth paths. Xu affirmed the company’s readiness to support carriers in creating value with AI.

China was reported as a global leader in 5G-A, with over 10 million users and coverage in 300 cities. More than 30 provinces offer 5G-A mobile plans. Carriers are launching premium upgrade options as part of new monetization frameworks.

Huawei noted that AI is reshaping telecom services, infrastructure, and operations. The company stated that this transformation is driving new business models and accelerating the shift toward an intelligent world.

Carriers are now positioning themselves as providers of AI agents across sectors. In the smart home segment, they are enabling enhanced device coordination. In-vehicle services are evolving through AI-powered V2X technologies. For businesses, carriers are improving computing-network and model-based services to support operations.

Huawei concluded that its collaborations and innovations at MWC Shanghai 2025 mark a key step forward in global 5G-A commercialization and AI-driven telecom evolution.
