Middle East mega-event organisers must adopt human-centric security models with advanced technology, experts revealed ahead of Intersec Saudi Arabia 2025.

Representatives from the King Salman Park Foundation, Abu Dhabi Police, and Event Concept Consultancy stressed the importance of blending technology with human expertise to ensure safety and public trust. The Kingdom is preparing to host high-profile events, including the annual Hajj pilgrimage, Expo 2030, and the FIFA World Cup 2034.

Rasheed Alzahrani, Safety and Security Director at the King Salman Park Foundation, explained that successful event security goes beyond presence. “It is a smart, forward-thinking effort focused on safety and visitor experience. This combines AI-powered cameras with trained staff reacting to real-time information. Planning and information sharing among police, organisers, and other groups are essential to prevent threats,” he said.

Lt. Col. Dr. Hamad Khalifa Al Nuaimi, Head of Telecommunications at Abu Dhabi Police, added that tools providing real-time insights into crowds, traffic, and cellphone usage help decision-makers respond to risks efficiently.

Konstantin Turuntcev, Managing Partner at Event Concept Consultancy, highlighted the importance of global collaboration and lessons learned to ensure safer events worldwide. Ahmed E. Al Shammari, Security Operations Lead, emphasised aligning security with cultural sensitivity and visitor experience, while remaining discreet and community-aware.

The experts will feature in the session Mega-Event Protection Excellence: Mastering Security Challenges, part of the Future Security Summit Powered by ASIS International Dhahran Chapter. Topics will include crowd management, emergency response, inter-agency coordination, and smart surveillance.

Other opening day sessions cover Integrated Security Design for Smart Cities: Lessons from NEOM and Crowd Movement and Accessibility.

The Fire Protection Summit will also address the evolving fire safety landscape in the Middle East.

Bilal Al Barmawi, CEO of 1st Arabia Trade Shows & Conferences, said the event will gather over 27,000 industry leaders, policymakers, and buyers. “Intersec Saudi Arabia is a must-attend for security professionals across the region,” he added.

The show floor will showcase Commercial and Perimeter Security, Cybersecurity, Homeland Security, Fire and Rescue, and Safety and Health, spanning 30,000 sqm across seven halls and a dedicated outdoor area.

Intersec Saudi Arabia is organised by 1st Arabia and licensed by Messe Frankfurt, in association with the High Commission for Industrial Security and the General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defense. The seventh edition will take place from 29 September to 1 October 2025 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC).

Riham Sedik, Exhibition Director at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, said attendees will explore industry challenges and commercial opportunities. “We look forward to driving advancements in security, safety, and fire protection across Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East,” she added.
