The Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA), in cooperation with Sharjah Municipality, has announced the launch of a proactive new service. This marks a key step in its digital transformation journey.

The service enables a direct electronic connection system. It allows automatic service delivery once the lease contract is authenticated by Sharjah Municipality. This eliminates the need for customers to visit multiple agencies or submit separate service requests.

SEWA revealed that the process has been streamlined into simple, digital steps. The initiative aligns with the authority’s strategic vision to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction. It also supports the mechanisms approved by the Sharjah Digital Department and the UAE government’s broader digital efforts.

Dr. Hussein Al-Askar, Director of Customer Service at SEWA, reported that the authority has recently introduced other proactive services. One such example is the automatic closure of accounts after receiving a clearance certificate from Sharjah Municipality.

Now, this initiative has progressed further. The new service begins connectivity automatically. SEWA will send a text message to the new customer with the required security deposit amount. Once the deposit is paid, the utility service will be connected directly. There will be no need for additional requests or customer intervention.

Dr. Al-Askar emphasized that SEWA continues to redesign and simplify its procedures. This move is in line with the vision of Sharjah’s government to offer smart, interconnected services.

He noted that:

  • The electronic link with Sharjah Municipality is a strategic step.
  • It facilitates the customer journey, saves time, and provides a seamless digital experience from contract authentication to service activation.

SEWA aims to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction through digital innovation. The authority confirmed that this initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to improving service delivery while reducing bureaucracy.
