The future of global event security and the delicate balance between emerging opportunities and risks took center stage at Intersec 2025 Security Leader’s Summit. Security professionals and industry leaders from around the world gathered to explore the latest challenges and innovations in securing major international events.
Event security spans multiple domains, including venue safety, traffic and transportation management, client protection, logistics, cybersecurity, immigration and border control, and safeguarding airspace and maritime zones.
Regina Dagueva, Chairman Advisor of Qatar’s Safety & Security Operations Committee (SSOC), delivered a highly anticipated session titled “Securing Global Mega Events: Security Lessons Learnt.” Dagueva emphasized how technological advancements are shaping the future of physical security for large-scale events.
“In the next five years, security professionals will face both significant opportunities and risks,” Dagueva noted. “Technologies will enhance threat detection and response, while advanced communication tools will improve global collaboration and information sharing during events. Experience from large-scale events will also help create a skilled market of security experts.”
The SSOC, which played a key role in securing the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, also contributed to security operations for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Dagueva added, “Balancing these opportunities and risks is essential for security professionals as they prepare for the future of event security. The complex global security landscape, including geopolitical challenges, may require professionals to adapt quickly to evolving threats.”
The two-day Security Leader’s Summit featured a lineup of high-level sessions focusing on redefining security norms and strategies. Discussions also explored inclusive community security, securing supply chains, post-conflict reconstruction, and the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in global security.
Grant Tuchten, Portfolio Director at Intersec organizer Messe Frankfurt Middle East, stated, “Intersec is a vital catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and progress in the global security industry. The Security Leader’s Summit brings together the most influential voices in the field to tackle critical challenges and explore actionable strategies shaping the future of the industry.”
