Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE Media Council and the National Media Office (NMO), attended a panel session focused on innovation and collaboration in media and marketing amid the rise of artificial intelligence.

The session was part of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France. The event is one of the world’s largest gatherings for advertising, media, and creative innovation.

Organised by Los Angeles Times Studios and marketing and technology firm Monks, the session brought together key figures from the global media and tech industries.

Among the speakers were:

  • Sir Martin Sorrell, media and marketing entrepreneur
  • Will.i.am, Founder and CEO of FYI.AI

It was reported that the discussion explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping the media landscape. Experts highlighted ways to enhance audience engagement, personalise content, and improve operational efficiency using AI.

Al Hamed noted that today’s fast-paced digital transformation demands a media environment that welcomes change and champions innovation. He said, “We need a media landscape that embraces change, fosters innovation and redefines its tools and partnerships.”

He added that such an approach is vital for achieving sustainable development goals and ensuring the UAE’s media sector remains aligned with the country’s future vision. He stressed the importance of leveraging global best practices to build an influential media presence both regionally and globally.

The panel session was also part of the lead-up to the BRIDGE Summit, set to take place in Abu Dhabi this December. The summit will focus on advancing digital marketing strategies in line with international trends.

On the sidelines of the Cannes event, Al Hamed met with Bruno Lambertini, CEO of Monks. They discussed future cooperation and how the UAE Media Council can benefit from Monks’ expertise in technology-driven marketing.

It was revealed that Monks may also take part in the upcoming BRIDGE Summit. This aligns with the UAE’s goal of developing smart, forward-looking media and marketing solutions.
