UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi. During his tour of the university’s state-of-the-art facilities, His Highness was briefed on the academic programs, research focus areas, and resources available to students.
The President was also updated on MBZUAI’s partnerships with leading global institutions specializing in artificial intelligence research. He visited the university’s Data Observatory, where faculty and researchers presented five groundbreaking AI-driven research projects in diverse fields including energy, climate, medicine, genetics, media, and robotics. Additionally, two start-ups from the university’s incubator showcased their innovative work.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed met with Professor Eric Xing, President of MBZUAI, alongside faculty members, administrators, and postgraduate students. He encouraged the students to continue their academic endeavors, emphasizing the importance of knowledge advancement for the betterment of their nations and communities.
The President highlighted MBZUAI’s pivotal role in supporting the UAE’s vision for investment in AI and advanced technology. He underscored the significance of nurturing national talent in this field, ensuring the sustainability of a knowledge-based economy powered by AI for present and future generations.
In his remarks, Sheikh Mohamed expressed his hopes that the university’s research would strengthen the scientific foundation of the UAE, especially in AI studies. He also extended his appreciation to the university’s leadership and staff, wishing them continued success.
Professor Eric Xing spoke about MBZUAI’s notable achievements, including its global ranking as the 10th best university in fields such as AI, machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, and computational biology. He also praised the unwavering support from the UAE leadership.
Accompanying His Highness on the visit were His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister; His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser; and other senior officials, including Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority.
