The UAE has built an advanced cybersecurity infrastructure capable of predicting and countering electronic attacks before they occur, according to Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Dr. Al Kuwaiti revealed that critical sectors in the country face more than 50,000 cyberattacks daily, all of which are proactively mitigated. The national security operations centre is seamlessly integrated with key industries such as electricity, water, healthcare, energy, and banking, ensuring robust protection of the nation’s digital landscape.
Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), the UAE’s cybersecurity framework can detect threats in advance, trace attackers, and neutralize risks following global best practices. Many of these cyberattacks, he noted, originate from state-backed entities and terrorist organizations.
Dr. Al Kuwaiti emphasized that modern warfare has shifted to cyberspace, with adversaries using tools like viruses, deepfakes, and misinformation campaigns to manipulate public opinion and destabilize societies.
To strengthen national resilience, the Cybersecurity Council is conducting simulated cyber exercises during IDEX and NAVDEX 2025, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and key partners, focusing on combating misinformation and deepfake threats.
