e& UAE Upgrades Network with Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 Extreme

e& UAE, the telecom arm of e&, has achieved a regional first in the Middle East and Africa by deploying Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 Extreme (WL6e) on its optical network. This cutting-edge technology significantly enhances the network, enabling ultra-high-speed 400G client infrastructure connectivity. It supports 10Gb home services and caters to wholesale and domestic business customers with 100G and 400G requirements. The deployment also optimizes e&’s 5G network, delivering a premium customer experience, while bolstering the network to meet the growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI) data center hubs.

With WL6e, powered by advanced 3nm silicon technology, e& UAE has doubled its data transmission capacity per wavelength to an impressive 1.6 Tb/s, all within the existing network footprint. This breakthrough confirms the enhancement of e&’s optical network capabilities, solidifying its position at the forefront of telecom innovation.
